My Worst Nightmare
Since Halloween is coming in less than two weeks, I thought I'd share my worst nightmare here... Look, they even made a commercial out of it!

Settlers vs. Babylonians
We're having a guest over and decided to buy a board game I have been wanting to buy ever since playing it once - about five years ago - at a friend's house in Paris. It's called Settlers and you have to build roads, settlements and cities and be the first one to get 10 points.
After playing it once - or twice - the night we bought it, both guys decided it wasn't bloody enough (I'm quoting here...) and decided to buy another game with a similar concept called Euphrat & Tigres. It's a lot more complicated and there are 'conflicts' involved, but they really enjoy beating me... every time.
However, since it's quite complicated and we're all new at the game and so still figuring out the rules... we played a nice game of Settlers last night (which I almost won ;-) ).

Alley Cat Romp
Last Sunday I went on my first 'Romp' with the Vancouver Extreme Photography meetup group. Don't worry, they're only 'extreme' in the sense that they're very committed to taking the perfect photo :-) We scouted the alleys near Granville Street and Chinatown.
Here are some of my favourites (more can be found on my flickr page.

Less is so much more!
Why do we have so much stuff? And why then, do we continue to buy more and more and more?!
Take a look at this. It's called The Story of Stuff.
Next time you're in the store, think before you buy:
1. Do I really need this? (is it fashion or to 'keep up with the Joneses?)
2. Is there another way to enjoy this? (library, borrowing, etc.)

How to Boil A Frog
Yesterday we went to a preview of How to Boil A Frog. It's a well made documentary. Without giving too much away - because I really think you should see this for yourself - it's a film about climate change. There are five major problems with five possible solutions and, in my opinion, it starts with a change in attitude from us.
Take a look at the documentary site, watch the documentary if you can and do your own research.
